IndieMas Day 6: Infernal Magic

It’s the best time of the year! This is the THIRD annual recap of all the independently-published books I’ve read. I like to take this time to share the love–both by helping promote great indie books and giving them away! So without further ado…

On the sixth day of Indie-Mas, my author gave to me:

An Amnesiac Urban Fantasy

Urban Fantasy, how much I love thee.

This story had a lot of my favorites. A feisty gal, an alpha dudebro who’s hopelessly befuddled by her, magic, mystery, fun! All of the above. I really think this series does the gradual mystery reveal well. Ursula is a gal who doesn’t remember who she is before three years ago. Even at the end of the first book, we don’t know why she sold her soul to the fire goddess. But we get more information about F.U. (former Ursula), such as her ability with a sword, flashes of memories, etc. Ursula is funny, she’s self-sufficient, and the book is a wild ride from start to finish.

She’s forgotten her past. Too bad her past won’t return the favor.

Ursula can’t remember a single thing from before three years ago, so she has to keep her life simple. All she wants is to earn enough money for rent–and maybe a bit left over for a new pair of boots.

But on her eighteenth birthday, all hell breaks loose… quite literally… when a hellhound shifter shows up in her kitchen. Kester’s lethally gorgeous, and he’s come with a terrifying message: Ursula owes her soul to a demon.

No one seems to care that she doesn’t remember striking that deal.

Thrust into the middle of a war between the gods of fire and night, Ursula fights her way across New York–and through the fae realm–to survive. Along the way, she must reclaim her magical knowledge and her long-forgotten skills with the blade if she wants to escape eternal damnation.
